I made a box this weekend, MDF with a veneer finish. After fiddling about with spreading PVA, waiting and applying, clamping, then finally trimming the edges, I thought “there must be an easier way”

Sure enough a quick trawl of u-tube turned up some interesting results. This is what I tried with a couple of pieces of scrap.

Apply PVA to both the base and the veneer. I used my fingers, c’mon, it’ll wash off. Leave ’til dry to touch. Place into position then simply apply a hot iron over brown paper. No need to clamp. Result, a smooth secure finish.

Hope this is useful for you.
