As a result of its popularity the club has found that it is necessary to restrict membership to 150. This goes some way to ensuring that machines are available and that members don’t turn up only to be disappointed when they can’t achieve what they expected.
From now on a waiting list will be established through the club secretary, Barry Hartley. When a member leaves then the person at the top of the list will be invited to join.
Birstall Woodturning Club is situated in the West Yorkshire town of Mirfield. We are a vibrant club serving the needs of our 150+ members with a well equipped workshop which includes 16 lathes, bandsaws, sanders and a planer/thicknesser.
We cater for both the experienced turner who may wish to develop his skills and for the complete novice. Tuition and advice is freely available from our team leaders and the more experienced members.
We also work closely with various community groups including the Scouts, and other groups, taking them through one of the Duke of Edinburgh modules.
If you think woodturning may be for you, come along and get first hand experience from those involved at the club on a regular basis.
