Please note that the club has now decided to limit membership.

This has come about due to the clubs popularity and has resulted in members turning up at the club only to finding that there were no lathes available. This was obviously an undesirable situation both for the club and members.

It is suggested that if you want to attend on a day outside your usual routine,  you seek advice from the organiser of that day.

This position will be reviewed in November.

Prospective members should apply to be put on a waiting list, by contacting the club secretary, or via the contact form on this website.

Birstall Woodturning Club is situated in the West Yorkshire town of Mirfield. We are a vibrant club serving the needs of our 150+ members with a well equipped workshop which includes 18 lathes, bandsaws, sanders and a planer/thicknesser.

We cater for both the experienced turner who may wish to develop his skills and for the complete novice. Tuition and advice is freely available from our team leaders and the more experienced members.

We also work closely with various community groups including the Scouts, and other groups, taking them through one of the Duke of Edinburgh modules.

If you think woodturning may be for you, come along and get first hand experience from those involved at the club on a regular basis.

Come along. You will be made welcome.

Please note that the club operates purely for hobby and social purposes and whilst  commissions and projects are undertaken for community organisations, we do not provide a commercial service. E.g. A batch of staircase spindles. Is is possible however that an individual member would undertake to reproduce a broken spindle in exceptional circumstances.
